A cheese factory in Haute-Savoie has had its reblochons withdrawn from sale after the salmonella contamination of 14 people. Several brands are affected.
November often coincides with the return of winter dishes. Among them, the tartiflette holds a good place, but beware of the origin of Reblochon. In Haute-Savoie, 14 people were contaminated with salmonella after ingesting this type of cheese. The company that produces it is recalling all batches.

14 infected adults
The Fromagerie de la Tournette is located in Fillinges in Haute-Savoie. In a press release published on Saturday, the company explains that it has decided “as a precautionary measure to withdraw from sale and recall certain whole Reblochons and half-Reblochons made with raw milk made on (its) site”. The 14 infected people are all adults and have now recovered according to Public Health France.
Watch out for the most vulnerable
Each year there are approximately 1.5 million cases of food poisoning. Among them, salmonellosis is the first cause of death and the second cause of hospitalization. It is characterized by the development of salmonella in the intestines, a bacterium which is found in food when hygienic conditions are not respected.
Salmonella contamination is manifested by gastrointestinal disorders (cramps in the stomach, diarrhoea, nausea, etc.) and sometimes by fever within 48 hours after ingestion of the contaminated product. It can be dangerous, even fatal, in the most fragile subjects: children, the elderly or immunocompromised people. In any case, it is never recommended to give these people raw milk or cheese made from raw milk.
A hotline for consumers

The complete list is available on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture.
