Only 33% of seniors over 75 refuse to be vaccinated against Covid-19, or are still undecided. In the population as a whole, adherence to vaccination is progressing.
- Two out of three seniors are ready to be vaccinated against Covid-19
- 61% of French people now support the idea of vaccination
According to a company survey Bluelinea33% of seniors over 75 refuse to be vaccinated against Covid-19, or are still undecided. Among the 455 people questioned, 67% declare that they are ready to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, and 73% of those who accept do not succeed (only 27% of consenting seniors have to date received their first injection, editor’s note) .
61% of French people are ready to be vaccinated
More generally, the trend in favor of vaccination against the coronavirus, initiated a few weeks ago, is gaining momentum within the entire French population. “The intention to vaccinate has increased by almost half: now, 61% of French people are ready to be vaccinated”, according to a new survey Odoxa, produced for France Info and Le Figaro. On the other hand, the government’s action on vaccination is still criticized by three-quarters of the French, who do not judge it in particular nor “effective” (72%) neither “Claire” (74%).
Self-isolation according to a criterion of fragility
Faced with these figures, members of the scientific council say they are in favor of self-isolation for the elderly. So they write in The Lancet than “The long-awaited end to this global health crisis may well be continually pushed back as new variants emerge.” And judge that by virtue of a social contract, “the younger generations would accept the constraint of preventive measures (such as masks, physical distance), on the condition that the oldest and most vulnerable groups adopt not only these measures but also other, more specific (such as self-isolation according to a criterion of frailty), in order to reduce their risk of infection.”
