Plus some modern tricks
Some things you just have to mention by name and then people automatically know that it’s cool. We call it a Grand Canyon or an Eames Lounge Chair. Or how about a Land Cruiser with a Chevrolet 6.2-liter V8 engine. Or just LS swap, as the cool guys call it. In addition, the Land Cruiser (FJ62) has been fully restored. The company TLC from North Carolina (but originally from California) is responsible for this cool project.
It took 2,200 hours to perform a full restoration, removing the body from the ladder frame. In America they call this a frame off rebuild, should you ever be in the market for something like this. Time well spent, I’m sure you agree. Especially the precious hours that went into the installation of the 435 hp 6.2-liter LS3. They could also have been Netflixing on the couch all this time. Speaking of which: you also saw a lot in this FJ62 generation of the Land Cruiser Narcos.
The Land Cruiser with LS-V8 also gets other improvements
It’s hard to find a piece of the Land Cruiser that doesn’t look brand new. And that for a car of forty years old. In addition to the new V8, the Land Cruiser will receive improvements to the suspension, brakes, axles, wheels and tires. Inside you will find a discreetly placed touchscreen for navigation and an improved air conditioning.
There’s really only one thing we would do differently if this were our present: find a different gearbox than the 4L65E that’s in it now. We have nothing against GM gearboxes (although plenty of you might), but a manual transmission is simply better if you want to go off-road anyway. The price of this Land Cruiser with LS-V8.
