Atkins diet: its principles
According to the precept of Dr. Atkins who developed his diet in the 70s, excess weight is not due to the fact that we eat too much, but rather comes from an imbalance in our food metabolism. This is due to a poor assimilation of sugars.
Rule n ° 1 : all sugars are removed. Whether they are those that the body assimilates slowly or those that are assimilated more quickly: sweets and sweet-tasting foods.
Rule n ° 2 : starchy foods (pasta, rice, potatoes) and legumes (beans, lentils, peas, soybeans, beans) are also prohibited, as are fruits, which are too sweet.
Rule n ° 3 : fats, on the other hand, can be consumed at will, as well as proteins (meat, fish, eggs, unsweetened dairy products). Under these conditions, and by following the rules to the letter, weight loss can reach 6 kilos per month.

– We regain our pounds as soon as we start to introduce prohibited foods into our daily menus.
Atkins diet: the opinion of nutri
For Dr France Aubry: “if it offers enough protein, this diet is really too fatty. But lipids have a target: the cardiovascular system, which is already quite abused by our way of life. It is therefore useless to add more ”.
For Dr JC Houdret: “a fairly pleasant slimming program at first glance. But it is a rather disgusting diet and quite dangerous in the long run. In particular, because of the increase in cholesterol it generates … ”
