Foie gras, plenty of alcohol, logs rich in sugar and butter… Every year, holiday meals can be responsible for stomach aches, indigestion or even a slight weight gain. While some products only provide you with calories, other classic end-of-year table foods have many health benefits.
And they are the ones who should be preferred. For example, capon is not necessarily the right choice: indeed, if it is a good source of protein, it is nevertheless one of the fattest poultry. Better to cook a turkey which has strong nutritional benefits. On the entrance side, the smoked salmonis recommended as seafood and shellfish (oysters, prawns, cockles, langoustines).
Chestnuts, Brussels sprouts and… chocolate
As an accompaniment, chestnuts are delicious and also have many nutritional advantages, which makes them a food to put more often on our plates, as an accompaniment to poultry but also to Brussels sprouts or broccoli with which they go very well. Also.
On the other hand, beware of candied chestnuts which certainly still have nutritional advantages but which bring a lot of sugar! For dessert, take advantage of the health benefits of exotic fruits that are very present on the stalls during the end-of-year festivities. The health benefits of chocolate should not be forgotten. However, to take advantage of it, you must prefer dark chocolate not milk chocolate.
