Road Safety is launching a campaign to make two-wheeler drivers aware of the new obligation to wear gloves, which comes into force on Sunday.
Bikers, think about your gloves! From Sunday, the wearing of CE approved gloves on two-wheelers becomes compulsory, for the driver as for the passenger, under penalty of a fine. To recall this new obligation, Road Safety launched a new campaign on Thursday.
“The day we can change hands, we can do without gloves! It is with this formula that Road Safety intends to raise awareness with this new campaign disseminated in the written press, on the Internet and on social networks. The aim is to remind users and passengers of scooters and motorcycles “the value of their hands and the need to protect them by wearing gloves”.

Targeted women
The objective is also to raise awareness among women, of whom 81% say they own gloves (compared to 90% of men), and among them, 74% say they use them (compared to 81% for men), according to figures published by the Road safety.
Hand injuries are particularly common in an accident, as the first instinct is to put them forward in the event of being thrown on the ground. According to a recent study by MAIDS (Motorcycle Accident In Depth Study), in an accident, with thick gloves, hand injuries are reduced or avoided in 95% of cases for motorcyclists and 87% of cases for mopeds.
Under a decree published in September, the wearing of gloves approved to the European CE standard will be compulsory from Sunday for drivers and passengers of motorcycles and scooters. The law provides for a third class fine for offenders (68 euros reduced to 45 euros in the event of payment within 15 days) and the loss of one point of the driver’s license. An exemption is granted to users of these vehicles when they are fitted with both seat belts and doors.c
