Perfectionism affects half of the French and is said to be one of the most frequent causes of stress at work.
- The 25-34 year olds would be particularly affected by this search for perfection.
- It is important to give yourself a moment of relaxation for yourself every day.
One in two French people suffers from perfectionism on a daily basis, according to a survey conducted by Ipsosmaking it one of the most common causes of work stress.
Stress at work, very present in France
To achieve this result, around 6,000 people were interviewed worldwide, including 1,000 French people. Thus, 51% of them felt that the search for perfectionism in their daily tasks was a source of suffering.
Stress at work is not a new phenomenon in France. Already in 2019, a Automatic Data Processing (ADP) survey considered France to be one of the worst countries in Europe. In fact, 19% of respondents declared daily stress at work.
Stress also present in personal life
Among the other sources of stress highlighted by the French in this new survey: entry into working life, the discovery of parenthood, work overload. For 47% of respondents, stressful times happen any day of the week.
Between women and men, there is a notable difference in terms of daily stress: 56% of French women feel often stressed compared to 44% among men. There are several reasons for this according to the study: “poor quality sleep and difficulty falling asleep for 50% of women compared to 39% for men, significant fatigue for 44% of women compared to 33% for men and the feeling of being overwhelmed for 34% of between them, where men are only 27%. And while that’s changing, household chores and meal preparation remain the top sources of stress for women at 34%“.
Try to reduce daily stress
This reality is disturbing because stress is the cause of 90% of pathologies including high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular or skin diseases, depression or certain cancers.
It is therefore recommended to reduce daily stress as much as possible… Regular practice of a sport or meditation can help achieve this objective.
