The famous Tekken game series is getting its own series on Netflix. The American streaming service has officially announced this.
Tekken is a household name among gamers who are already somewhat older. It once started in the arcade halls in Japan, but later also came to PlayStation, among others. One on one battles with a variety of colorful characters. Each character has their own combos and their own power. Numerous volumes have been published over the years. There was once a film, a dramatic piece of film by the way. And now Netflix is announcing a Tekken series.
Where the Tekken movie was a live action title, Netflix is betting on anime with this show. The series focuses on the character Jin Kazama. This character has been playing since Tekken 3 and has become one of the most famous characters. Jin is known as a fighter who can dish out classic fists and kicks with precision.
The series is called Tekken: Bloodlines. A first teaser trailer gives a glimpse of what to expect. Netflix has invested heavily in making anime series in recent years. By connecting such a big name as Tekken to the genre, Netflix is taking a big step. The series will be released on Netflix later this year. An exact date has not been communicated.
