Lynk & Co’s revenue model seems to be catching on
There is plenty of interest in new cars, the problem is that car dealers cannot deliver well. Partly due to the shortage of computer chips at the factories, the number of registrations of new cars is declining. In the Netherlands, but also abroad. In November, 27,333 new cars were registered. That is 17.5 percent less than in November 2020 – and then we were already well into corona time.
“The order books at car dealers are generally well filled, but many manufacturers are currently unable to produce enough,” reports de Bovag. They expect the shortage to last until at least halfway through 2022. However, a small final sprint is expected this month from people who quickly want a car for a lower addition. Provided the dealers can deliver, of course.
Next year, the addition for electric cars in the Netherlands will increase from 12 to 16 percent. For all other powertrains, an addition rate of 22 percent still applies. The Bovag predicts that 390,000 cars will be registered in our country before 2022. That is an increase of about 60,000 cars compared to the forecast for this year. Striking entrance
In April, the first Lynk & Co cars arrived in the country. Volvo’s sister brand does sell cars, but they prefer that you take out a subscription and pay monthly for use. Apparently people are open to this, because in November 649 units received a Dutch registration. In total there are now 2,485 Lynk & Co’s with Dutch registration. In October, the brand reported that 90 percent of European customers opt for the subscription.
