Apple will soon introduce new rules for every account for apps in the App Store. This means more control over your data. That is how it works.
From June 30th there will be two important new rules for all applications sent through the Apple App Store to be offered. The first rule concerns the mandatory use of Apple’s payment system for paid group meetings. Yes, Apple is always looking for ways to force commission. As a gift for the user, there is also a major update on how you can control your account.
App Store gives you control over your account(s)
The new rule for accounts in apps is all-encompassing; all applications that are in the App Store (read: all legitimate apps for iPhone) and have an account system must comply with the new rules of apple to fulfil:
- Deleting your account should be easy to find in an app.
- Not only should you be able to temporarily disable an account, you should have the option to have your account — and all personal information — deleted permanently.
- Apps within regulated industries may need to provide additional support to facilitate account deletion.
- Developers must comply with all applicable local laws regarding the storage and retention of user information.
Practice
But what does this new policy mean for you? From June 30, all applications for iPhone in the App Store must comply with the new rules, which means that it will be easier to have your account deleted. In short, developers need to give back control over your accounts.
That applies to literally every app for which you can create an account. Think big boys like Netflix and Facebook. But also any indie video game and shady flashlight apps for which you can create an account.
