The service has to come up with something different with the increasing competition. Games seems to be the answer for Netflix.
With the recent arrival of HBO Max in the Netherlands, you can no longer count the number of streaming services in our country on one hand. This has been going on for much longer in the United States. And as a result, Netflix is growing less rapidly than they might want to. In short, the company has to come up with something different to bind customers. Netflix seems to be investing heavily in games.
The American streaming service has picked up another game studio. It is already the third studio in a short time that now in hands comes from Netflix† The company previously bought Night School and Next Games, now Boss Fight Entertainment is added. The studios are being put to work developing mobile games.
Netflix deliberately buys up well-known companies that already have experience. The names of the studios may not mean anything to you, but I think the games do. For example, Boss Fight is more or less the company behind CastleVille. A very popular game on Facebook. Netflix wants to get customers gaming with accessible games. The real gamer will of course turn his nose up at it. These mini-games are specifically aimed to appeal to the masses.
Soon all housewives and office workers who are bored will switch from the Facebook games to the Netflix games? We will see.
