The EFS asks people wishing to donate blood after the Nice attack to wait a few days, or even a few weeks. The needs are currently covered.
July 14, 2016 will certainly remain the saddest national holiday in French history. Thursday evening, after the traditional fireworks display, the people of Nice experienced the worst. A terrorist, driving a 15-meter-long truck, rolled into the famous Promenade des Anglais, mowing down anyone in his path. The results are dramatic. Launched at more than 80km / h, it killed 84 people, including children. A figure that could increase further since there are still 29 injured in intensive care, including 1 child. “The vital prognosis of 18 people is engaged, including 1 child”, also specified this Sunday Marisol Touraine, Minister of Health.
Fortunately, as always, the French have shown exceptional solidarity. On the social network Twitter, the hashtags #PortesOuvertesNice, for example, have multiplied for those seeking shelter. Others have appealed for blood donations to help the victims. Starting from a good intention, these are however not necessary. In charge of this harvest, the French Blood Establishment (EFS) has also clarified this Friday.
Mobilization rather over time
In a Facebook post published on July 15, he wrote: “Thank you to all the donors who are mobilizing for blood donation. The satisfactory level of reserves of blood products made it possible to deal with the situation; there are no urgent needs today. The EFS expresses all its compassion and shares the suffering and distress of the families and loved ones affected by the Nice attack. The mobilization must be done over time, to find a collection site near you in order to donate your blood in the coming days or weeks ”. Indispensable recommendations given the news of recent days. In Marseille, the day-to-day Provence announced Friday morning “a strong crowd at the Maison du don, at 28 rue de la République, an establishment of the EFS”. This as soon as it opens …
Ditto in Nice where the EFS says it has never seen such an influx.
