World Allergy Day, March 17, is an opportunity to remember that over the past twenty years the number of people with allergies has doubled, which has prompted the World Health Organization (WHO) to classify the allergy 4th ranked disease in the world. France is not spared and, while allergies only affected 2 to 3% of the population in 1970, they now affect 30% of this same French population. Statistics that are not going to improve since experts estimate that within 35 years, one in two people will be allergic.
“Even if allergies have a genetic origin, nothing seems to stop this evil of the century aggravated by our lifestyles. Outdoor pollution, the indoor air of our homes, our psycho-sociological dimension play on us and the development of our allergies but also on pregnant women and unborn children” emphasizes Asthma and Allergy Association.
How to act today?
The essential preliminary to the fight against allergy is not to neglect the symptoms (the runny noseitching, rashes, itchy eyes…) and to consult to take care of the disease. “Too many people are unaware that an untreated allergy risks getting worse” underlines the association.
You must then take the treatment for the entire prescribed duration and adopt certain reflexes to avoid an aggravation of the symptoms:
– Open the windows for at least 15 minutes twice a day, morning and evening, avoiding the hottest hours of the day,
– Reduce the indoor temperature and maintain the ventilation system and ventilation of the home.
– Reduce the presence of pollutants by not smoking, by not using scented candles, incense, or interior deodorants and by favoring natural products for cleaning (black soap, baking soda, white vinegar, etc.) .
