No internet connection? No problem, we explain how you can watch YouTube videos offline.
It still happens from time to time: not having a (good) internet connection. Still annoying if you just want to watch a nice YouTube video. There are handy tips to prevent this.
Watch YouTube videos offline
Let’s start with the bad news. Downloading videos from YouTube costs money. You must have a Premium account. This is possible from a little 7 euros per month. The advantage of this is that you will no longer see any advertisements.
If you’re signed in to your account, you’ll see a download button under videos while you’re watching them. Click on it and the download will begin. If you’re browsing video thumbnails in a grid (for example, on the YouTube homepage), you can click the three dots next to each video to find the download option. Now you can also see a download status window in the lower left corner. You can find your downloads again then click the Downloads button on your internet browser.
iOS and Android
You can also download YouTube videos in the Android and iOS mobile apps. You can tap the Download button that appears under videos while watching them. Or you can tap the three dots next to a video as you scroll through it and then select the Download video option.
To find your recommended videos and videos you’ve downloaded to your device, tap Library, then tap Downloads. You need to connect to YouTube once every 30 days in both your browser and your app. Otherwise, YouTube won’t remember if you’re a Premium subscriber.
