What are the benefits?
The Stop-Tag study (2006) compared the effectiveness of hydrotherapy with that of a reference drug in anxiety disorders. The effects of the treatment were found to be greater (22% of patients cured against 8%), and the benefit persisted 6 months later for two-thirds of curists.
Dr Olivier Dubois, psychiatrist and director of the Saujon thermal baths, suggested to 70 chronic anti-anxiety users to try to wean off in spa treatment. Six months later, 80% of curists had at least halved the doses and 41% had completely stopped these dangerous drugs. In addition, their symptoms (anxiety, sleeping troubles, fatigue, nervousness) were markedly improved.
Which spa to choose?
Of the 90 French spas, some have particularly soothing waters, generally rich in magnesium and lithium, which make them valuable against stress. These stations are classified under the orientation “Psychosomatic disorders”. Between Bagnères-de-Bigorre (65), Divonne-les-Bains (01), Néris-les-Bains (03), Saujon (17) and Ussat-les-Bains (09), it remains to choose the one closest to you, the one who dislikes you the most, or whose activities tempt you the most.
How’s it going ?
Upon arrival, a consultation with a doctor allows a personalized program to be established. In addition to the drink cure, it includes a number of daily modules: interviews and workshops with a psychologist, relaxation sessions, balneotherapy (jet showers, hydromassage baths, etc.).
Note that the agreed 18-day cure can be paid for (partially) on prescription from the attending physician, and some mutuals participate in the costs.
