What if happiness was within reach of needles and threads? This is the conclusion of the Opinion Way survey for the knitting yarn brand happywool.com published on the occasion of World Health Day, celebrated on April 7.
According to the latter, nearly three out of four French people say that knitting relaxes, feels good and even allows you to escape. The knitters are indeed 74% to declare “to feel better and happier since they do it” according to the press release of the brand.
The scientifically recognized benefits of knitting
The benefits of tritherapy have also been scientifically confirmed by a study published in 2013 in the journal The British Journal of Occupational Therapy which revealed that 81% of knitters feel happier after knitting.
Knitting indeed helps to lower the level of cortisol, the stress hormone, and increases that of dopamine and serotonin, the molecules of well-being, even helping to make chronic pain more tolerable.
