As the health bill comes under increasing criticism, dentists are joining the strike movement and calling on the government to include them in the negotiations.
After general practitioners and specialists, it is the turn of the National Confederation of Dental Trade Unions (CNSD) to have a grudge against the health bill. The latter called for a strike movement last Thursday, a day during which two thirds of dental offices were closed.
Dentists excluded from negotiations
Dentists are mainly concerned about the generalized third-party payment which affects their profession head-on, but also about the application of the Macron law device on liberal professions to the health law. This could lead the patient to choose his prosthetist. But above all, the CNSD rebelled at being sidelined. “How to explain that once again, dental surgeons are excluded from any dialogue when the law will have major impacts on their practice? Need we remind you that for 27 years, reimbursements for prostheses and orthodontics have been blocked? », Denounces the CNSD in a press release.
“An unbearable contempt for dentists”
The latter, who reproach the minister for including only doctors in the negotiations, wish to meet with the minister: “the CNSD, on behalf of the entire profession, no longer supports this contempt displayed for dental surgeons and request to be received as soon as possible ”, we can read in the press release. “Dentists will be consulted as part of the working group,” Marisol Touraine told AFP. In addition, the minister claims to have involved dental surgeons from October, when the bill was presented. And according to her, they would not have omitted the slightest objection.
But dental surgeons are not the only ones going on strike. This Sunday, SOS Médecins called for a 24-hour strike to express their concerns about the risks of “removing the doctor on duty at night”. The latter, who were waiting for an intervention from Marisol Touraine, have still not been received by the minister. They are therefore now calling for direct involvement on the part of François Hollande.
