“The movement for the health of all”: this is the name of the group of 41 unions of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, dentists and students from the medical world which has just been created to confront the Health Bill carried by Marisol Touraine. Until then fairly scattered, the slingshot is now organized around a single objective: the pure and simple withdrawal of the bill.
In a letter sent directly to Prime Minister Manuel Valls, these professionals stress that the proposed text “destroys the attractiveness of the liberal exercise” of health professions, “and does not give local players the means to coordinate and to ensure continuity of care. The ambition of this movement, born of the anger of health professionals and the feeling of helplessness of their unions, is to carry the voice of the withdrawal of the text during the great national demonstration which will take place in Paris on March 15th.
The demonstration will take place two days before the arrival of the bill before the Social Affairs Commission of the National Assembly.
In addition, the 41 unions accuse the government of a denial of democracy, while former Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault had announced “the establishment of a national health strategy, bringing together actors around public health priorities”. . The latter would have “not been invited to the construction of target solutions”, denounce the unions. They underline that “contrary to the presentation made in the Council of Ministers, this text does not carry a strong and innovative health policy at the heart of the republican pact to advance solidarity and social justice. They also denounce a “nationalization” of the healthcare system and refuse the generalization of third-party payment.
It should be noted that the largest doctors’ unions (CSMF, MG France) did not take part in this rejection movement, preferring to work on a rewriting of the contentious points of the text within the four working groups created by Marisol Touraine.
