Contrary opinions
These facts have been confirmed by the Spanish health authorities. “A request was made to a judge to be able to euthanize the animal. We cannot risk the spread of the virus by dogs, ”explains Philippe Vilas, president of the Madrid Order of Veterinarians on a daily basis.
On the other hand Eric Leroy, Director of Research at the Institute for Research for Development (IRD), within the joint research unit “Infectious Diseases and Vectors” and specialist in the disease, hoped that we would not kill this dog, because it is essential to be able to observe it from a scientific point of view. Indeed, the role of dogs is little studied in the propagation of the virus and is poorly understood.
In an attempt to save their dog, Javier and his wife Teresa sent a message on social networks. But that was not enough.
