An appointment that goes badly. Frédéric Varnier, a member of the cabinet of the Minister of Health, is expected to be appointed deputy director l” Institut Gustave-Roussy(IGR) of Villejuif (Val-de-Marne), the first European center for fight against cancer. A pill difficult to swallow for the president of the IGR who opposes this appointment wanted by Marisol Touraine. The president intended to replace Charles Guépratte, current deputy director of the oncology center, by Cédric Arcos, hospital director and deputy director of the Hospital Federation of France (FHF).
If Charles Guépratte is leaving to take the head of the Nice University Hospital, the name of his replacement in the deputy management of the oncology center is therefore the subject of debate. Unless it is already all found … The Parisian indeed reveals that Marisol Touraine would have already recorded the appointment by drafting a ministerial decree. Frédéric Varnier, adviser in charge of the financing of social and medico-social hospitals, would therefore be almost “inducted”.
Extraordinary advice to confirm the appointment
The daily adds that an extraordinary council would even be scheduled for December 14 at the Gustave Roussy Institute. The Minister of Health would have expressed the request to the regional prefect who chairs the board of directors of the IGR.
The Minister of Health usually appoints the deputy director of the Institut Gustave Roussy, but in principle in consultation with the number 1 of the oncology center.
This small controversy comes after Marisol Touraine announced the thaw of 100 million euros for hospitals.
