On the recommendations of Nestlé, owner of the Guigoz brand, the Intermarché stores have decided toimmediately withdraw from the sale of infant milk cans in which there would be iron filings. The discovery was made by parents who buy their supplies in a store in Tarn-et-Garonne: their child’s powdered milk having a “metallic” appearance, the father had the idea of placing a magnet above the milk powder, and small pieces of iron (filings) have stuck to the magnet. The father then had the idea of contacting the Midi-Pyrénées Regional Health Agency, which then turned to the manufacturer to ask him to withdraw the products from sale.
The affected product is a non-thickened 1st age milk, from the Guigoz brand, sold in metal boxes. For its part, the Intermarché group was the first to react by removing all cans of Guigoz 1st age milk from the shelves of its stores.
