A team of researchers from this university launched this winter a study on eight families in the State to find out the real benefits – or misdeeds – of this console which requires the player to perform real sports movements in particular. The results of this study will be known in spring 2009.
This study will be carried out over six months. She will follow eight families during two phases: the first without a Wii console and the second with the loan of a console for three months. Throughout this period, each member of the family will be subjected to many measures related to their physical form, such as their indoor physical form, their balance, their physical activity or their morphology.
Beforehand, each person’s movements and physical activity will have been examined to serve as a basis for comparison.
Along with their own assessment tools, the researchers also plan to use the data saved by Wii video games as the player progresses.
The results of this study should be presented in late spring 2009.
