A new fee schedule for medical consultations has just been published in Official newspaper and will come into effect on Wednesday, November 1. On May 1, the basic consultations with a general practitioner had passed from 23 to 25 euros and that does not change. The novelty is the addition of two additional levels: the “complex” consultation and the “very complex”.
Special consultations at 46 and 60 euros
The first is billed at 46 euros and takes into account the fight against obesity or sexual prevention. It mainly concerns the follow-up of newborns, children from 3 to 12 years old, and the first visit of a young girl to a gynecologist. These appointments considered “long”, because it is necessary to look for any signs of pathology or to explain all the contraceptions to the patient, cannot be billed more than twice a year and per child and will be fully reimbursed by the patient. ‘Health Insurance. In certain cases, such as asthma or a serious eye pathology, these consultations may be increased by 16 euros, to reach a total of 62 euros.
The “very complex” consultation is billed at 60 euros. It includes the explanation of a serious disease such as cancer, AIDS or neurological pathology (Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s), and the implementation of treatment. It can be billed up to three times per year per patient. People suffering from this kind of illness will be covered 100% by the Social Security and may request third-party payment. In other cases, it is the doctors who will henceforth decide whether or not to apply it, taking into account the means of the patient and the cost of the service. This feature should come into effect on December 1.
