We already knew that Drive to Survive was an incredibly popular Netflix series, but it appears to have caused a direct influx to F1 fans.
The power of Netflix is once again evident, as it appears that an unprecedented number of F1 fanatics have joined the sport because of the streaming service. Drive to Survive may have a fairly mediocre fourth season, but it’s still a huge banner for the lightning-fast racing sport.
Drive to Survive promotes F1
Exactly how impactful is Drive to Survive for the popularity of Formula 1? That was looking for a Morning Consultation out through a poll. It found that more than half of all American F1 fans joined the sport because of the popular Netflix documentaries.
To break that number down; 23% of all fans say Drive to Survive is the main reason they love Formula 1. 30% say it has had a minor impact on them. Only 47% of all fans in the US say they have not been influenced by the series.
Netflix thus has a huge influence on the popularity of Formula 1 in the United States. Perhaps just as much compared to the Dutch, who became massive fans of the sport because of Max’s genius.
Anyway, Drive to Survive is about the world of F1, with all the unknown aspects of the sport. Netflix unfortunately couldn’t get Max, but it’s definitely worth checking out!
