Foldable phones are becoming more affordable and Google also wants to price their foldable – which will probably be called Google Pixel Notepad – fairly cheaply.
We can easily write off the debacle with the Samsung Galaxy Fold as a flop, especially considering the price tag of about 2,000 euros. But actually you have to turn it around. Samsung showed the audacity to release a groundbreaking product and by exposing the drawbacks the hard way, the Fold 2 and Fold 3 became better devices. However, Samsung has not yet solved one problem: their Fold devices are still very expensive.
Foldable Google
Fortunately, there is a new slant on foldables and prices seem to be moving in the right direction. Because Google is also going to come up with a foldable phone. So far nothing new, but that’s it 9to5google now claims that a price has already been mentioned. The soon-to-be-available Google foldable will cost $1,400. Okay, a pittance is different, but it still saves several hundred euros with the Samsung Galaxy Fold. The foldable is going to be a bit like the Pixel 6 Pro: bullying the top end for a much friendlier amount.
Google Pixel Notepad
It also seems that Google will not use crazy ‘fold’ or ‘flip’ or other crazy names for their foldable. Previous rumors indicate that Google’s foldable will be called the Pixel Notepad. We also know that the Pixel Notepad will also receive the new Tensor SoC and that the device will be on the market later in 2022. The Google Pixel Notepad already seems like a potent foldable.
