Hydration, mask, exfoliation, homemade cream… How to gently detoxify your skin with natural ingredients and without expensive cosmetic products? To maintain healthy skin, it is essential to pamper it at least once a week…
We need the sun’s rays to synchronize our inner clocks, maintain our good mood or synthesize the precious vitamin D (among other things). But too much sun eventually produces potentially serious deleterious effects. Among the aging accelerators, the sun occupies a special place.
Fortunately, very tanned skin, tanned by excessive exposure, is no longer in fashion. We only seek to look “good-looking”, to sport a golden complexion that evokes “good health”.
How to detoxify your skin?
If the sun is a major enemy of the skin, we must also add the importance of waste and toxins that clutter our body.
Remember: the skin is part of the emunctory organs, responsible for the elimination of toxins. When it is not in a condition to do so, or when the production of waste is too high, it no longer succeeds.
So how do you detoxify your skin? Give it a little nudge. Not only will your skin gain radiance (the accumulation of toxins blurs and grays the complexion), but your whole body will benefit from better internal cleansing.
Here are some detox tips to take care of your skin, to practice regularly for optimal results.
1. Exfoliate the skin
Whether on the body or on the face, your skin needs to be “exfoliated” regularly (once every eight to ten days), in order to eliminate dead cells, dust and unwanted substances that encumber. For this, there is a simple natural solution.
- In a bowl, pour baking soda and add a drizzle of olive oil, stirring, to obtain a lumpy paste.
- First take a hot bath, or better still a steam bath (it’s hard at home for the whole body, but it’s easy for the face), in order to open your pores.
- Massage your body and/or your face with the baking soda paste, with circular gestures so as to cleanse the epidermis well.
- Finish with a cool shower to tighten pores, then apply moisturizer.
- On the face, practice this scrub in the evening, just before your daily care. Your night cream will only be more effective.
2. Eliminate toxins from the skin
How to detoxify your skin in depth? Nature has thought of your skin, providing you with plants that facilitate the elimination of toxins and others that improve the radiance of the skin. Two of them stand out:
- Green tea activates renal elimination. It’s quite simple: drink three or four cups of lightly infused green tea every day (5 minutes). You will eliminate more toxins through the urine, which will relieve your skin. In addition, green tea is rich in protective antioxidants.
- Elderberry activates sweating. A good point to help the skin in its work of elimination. Count a tablespoon of a mixture of dried flowers and leaves for a bowl of boiling water. Leave to infuse for 7 to 8 minutes, then strain and drink immediately. Repeat daily for ten days, once every two months. After your herbal tea, lie down to let your body sweat, then shower.
3. Rebalance oily skin
Our skin naturally produces sebum, which is essential to it. However, sometimes this production gets carried away. The skin becomes shiny, the blackheads multiply. To overcome it, it is necessary above all to rebalance the production of sebum.
A tomato mask. Peel a very ripe tomato after having plunged it for 1 minute in boiling water. Squeeze half a lemon. Mix the tomato and lemon juice together, then spread this pulp on your face, avoiding the eye and lip area. Leave on for 20 minutes then rinse with clear water. This mask reduces excess sebum, gently cleanses the skin and eliminates impurities. You can repeat it once a week.
A facial hammam with essential oils of lavender and lemon. In a bowl of boiling water, pour 2 drops of lavender and 2 drops of lemon. Lean over the bowl so that your face is bathed in the steam. Stay like this for 5 minutes, then wipe off with a tissue. Repeat once a week.
4. Soften dry skin
In this case, the problem is reversed. The skin does not produce enough sebum. It becomes dry, fragile, sensitive, even cracked. It is then necessary to offer the epidermis softening and rebalancing treatments.
Chamomile floral water in lotion. Pour a little floral water on a cotton pad or a compress, and wipe over your face morning and evening.
Avocado mask. Mash the flesh of half a very ripe avocado (but not yet blackened) with a fork until you obtain a very smooth and homogeneous paste. Add a drizzle of wheat germ oil and 3 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil. Mix well to obtain a sufficiently creamy consistency. Apply generously to face and neck, avoiding the eye and lip area. Leave on for 30 minutes, then wipe off the excess with a tissue. Rinse with lotion or cotton soaked inchamomile floral water. Do this mask once a week.
5. Eradicate dark spots
They appear with age. They are due to the migration of melanocytes which group together, leaving surfaces unprotected. As soon as you see them appear, stop exposing yourself to the sun. They reveal that your skin is no longer able to protect itself properly. In addition, this essential oil will erase them quickly.
A treatment with rosewood essential oil. It’s very simple: just pour 1 to 2 drops of this essential oil on the tip of your index finger, then apply it to the spots every evening, after removing make-up and before your night cream. Repeat every day.
6. Calm sunburn
Have you, despite everything, abused the sun? Do you come home with red and burning skin? Sunburn is a true first-degree burn that should be treated as such. There is a very effective natural solution:lavender essential oil.
A lavender balm : this essential oil is one of the only ones that you can apply directly to the skin without the risk of irritation. Enjoy! Pour a few drops on the red area if it is not too large, and spread gently with your fingertips. If the sunburn affects a large area, prepare a balm by pouring half a whole yogurt into a bowl. Then add 10 drops of lavender essential oil and mix. Spread on your body and leave on for at least 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
7. Heal wounds
Our skin knows how to regenerate quickly when damaged by a cut or scrape. Scarring is a complex process, more effective and faster in some people. To improve it, homeopathy offers you a simple and effective solution.
Calendula tincture is a decimal homeopathic dilution of marigold. The beautiful orange marigold that grows in the gardens. This mother tincture accelerates the reconstruction of the skin. Pour a little into lavender floral water (1/3 to 2/3), then impregnate a compress. Apply to the cut and leave on for 15 minutes. Repeat at least three times a day.
