Many sites are currently experiencing an outage. Users see the message 500 Internal Server Error on their screen.
This morning many sites suffered from an outage. Users had, or do not have, access to many websites. If you came to a website at all, you saw the notification: ‘500 Internal Server Error’. This is an http status code. All you can do is wait and refresh the website.
Internal Server Error
It is a standard status code. You can’t make much out of this, other than that the website doesn’t work. An Internal Server Error is a 500 error code that is displayed when a script generates an error on the web page. Anything connected to the internet can get this message. It is also possible that this is an attack and that sites (or the internet servers) have contracted a virus. It is striking that you also see ‘nginx’ in the screen with the notification.
This is a web server and a backup proxy server for HTTP and IMAP protocols, among others. It is strongly focused on high performance and low memory consumption. Many websites use this. The developer is Igor Sysoev and he is of Russian descent.
cloudfare
It seems that there is a major outage at the internet company Cloudfare. As a result, many services and websites are not or hardly accessible. Apparata was also difficult to reach this morning because of this. The company says on its website it is investigating “widespread problems with our services and/or networks”. Millions of websites use Cloudfare’s services.
