Will you no longer need an iPhone in your pocket, but can you just use the Apple Watch 4G with KPN?
Earlier this week, the Apple Watch Series 7 was announced. The smartwatch was formally presented, information about an exact release and price is not yet available. Subsequently could RTL News reported yesterday that KPN eSim will provide support for the 4G version of the Apple Watch. There are also some questions about this that we will address in this article.
1. Your old Apple Watch 4G via KPN?
When an Apple Watch Series 7 with 4G support comes on the market, you can assume that KPN will support it. After all, it is a new product. But it is still unclear what the situation is with older copies of the smartwatch. There has been a variant with eSim support since the Apple Watch Series 3 (2017). However, this never worked in the Netherlands. The vast majority of people will therefore have bought a variant with only WiFi. The good news is that the Apple Watch Series 3 is still available new through Apple.
2. Other providers?
KPN will in the future support eSim for an Apple Watch with 4G. But maybe you are with Vodafone, T-Mobile or another provider. What about that? For the time being, there are no signs that these telecom providers will provide such support in the short term. For the time being, only KPN has released this information.
3. Will Apple offer old versions with 4G?
If you now want to buy a Watch of an older model from Apple, you can only buy the WiFi version. Because there is no support in the Netherlands for the variant with 4G, it has never been introduced in our country. For example, if you want to buy an Apple Watch Series 3 (2017) with 4G, you have to look across the border. In Germany, for example, Apple does sell the variant with 4G. And then of course the question is again whether this will work with Dutch telecom networks. In short, questions, questions and more questions. Waiting for answers!
