Dyslexia, a learning disorder recognized by the World Health Organization, affects approximately 6 to 8% of the French population, ie an average of 2 children per class. Atol les Opticiens offers the latest innovation from Abeye, the Med-Tech start-up it has been incubating since 2018: LEXILENS® glasses, a unique device to make reading easier for dyslexic people.
LEXILENS®: the first electronic reading glasses
These glasses are based on the discovery of two researchers in laser physics from the University of Rennes, Albert Le Floch and Guy Ropars, awarded by the National Academy of Medicine in 2020. After 15 years of research, they have implemented evidence of a link between the eye, the brain and certain forms of dyslexia. Their work revealed “two too perfect eyes”, or the absence of a dominant eye, which prevents the brain from filtering mirror images and therefore from correctly distinguishing letters. With its smart active lenses, LEXILENS® filters out the mirror images that cause reading difficulties.
The LEXILENS® device is recommended in addition to speech therapy support. Tests carried out in the laboratory and then in real conditions on more than 200 people show promising results in terms of fluency and reading comfort for a large majority of testers. Benefits: increased school results, a taste for reading for some, increased self-confidence and more fulfilled children in a peaceful family atmosphere. 92% of wearers of these glasses feel a change in their lives. This is one of the results of the survey* carried out among more than 350 wearers of LEXILENS® glasses.
Namely: LEXILENS® does not emit waves and is therefore not harmful to the wearer’s health.
Designed and manufactured in France, the LEXILENS® device is offered for sale exclusively at Atol les Opticiens points of sale.
